Every major project at the is designed to familiarise the public with artistic masterpieces not just by visiting the exhibition but also through a rich and varied cycle of encounters and lectures held in the auditorium at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni. The curator, art historians and university lecturers take us by the hand on an exciting journey to Parma to explore the school of painting that made the city one of the capitals of the Italian Renaissance – on a par with Rome, Florence and Venice – and a crucial focal point for European taste and painting not only of its own era but also on into the following centuries. Thanks to the fascinating stories and viewpoints expounded by these illustrious scholars, we can once again experience the wonder of the first travellers who began from the 16th Century on to voice their enchantment when confronted with "the marvellous abyss of the great Correggio's painting" and the spectacular talent of Parmigianino, whom even the highly sophisticated papal court saw as a reincarnation of the genius of Raphael.
