Two giants of Italian art compared and contrasted:  setting paintings, drawings and prints side by side allows us quite clearly to perceive the deep ties between Raphael and Francesco Mazzola, known as Parmigianino, whom the oldest sources point to as Raphael's true heir.  Looking at Raphael through Parmigianino's eyes allows us to analyse the relations that existed between artists who lived in different places at different times, revealing the crucial importance of a cultural heritage.
