Giuseppe Adani

Antonio Allegri, known as Correggio, owes the name by which he is universally known to his birthplace in the heart of the Emilia region.  With his genius, he proved capable of holding together the strings of numerous cultural strains in the Renaissance, transfiguring them with a powerful new vitality and conferring on his painting the spiritual intoxication and loving frisson of the senses.
