Several surprisingly talented artists lived and worked in Parma in the shadow of Correggio and Parmigianino in the first few decades of the 16th century, and their work made a unique contribution to the glory of the School of Parma.  Chief amongst them are Giorgio Gandini Del Grano, called Correggio's pupil, a highly skilled draughtsman in his own right and an exquisite painter of small pictures for hanging in private homes, and Francesco Maria Rondani, a fresco painter of the highest quality and an outstanding portraitist.
