How has the work of Correggio and Parmigianino fared with critics in past centuries?  What aspects of their art have been appreciated and praised or, on the contrary, strongly criticised or even dismissed out of hand?  Bringing together the various voices raised one way or the other at crucial moments' in the history of the two artists' critical fortunes allows us to paint a fascinating picture in which we see one overshadowing the other and vice-versa, paving the way for polemic, criticism and underrating.
