The Palazzo delle Esposizioni's Educational Services - Art Workshop has scheduled a new cycle of lectures on photography for enthusiasts, professionals and students following the success of its first edition. The course, run by professional photographers Stefano D’Amadio and Filippo Trojano, consists of four theme-based lectures ranging from the basics of analogue and digital cameras to the creative potential of Photoshop while also taking a look at the work of some of the leading photographers of the 20th century. The course will address both theory and practice, with guided hands-on work.
Basic Course
4 and 5 February 2012
Focusing and shutter speeds, depth of field and the use of flash, shutter and diaphragm: fundamentals for beginners who want to find out all about cameras and to learn to use them correctly.
Intermediate Course
18 and 19 February 2012
Designed for those who already have a basic grasp of technique, this course introduces the rules of composition and takes a more in-depth look at basic techniques. The seminar will include practical applications, followed by laboratory analysis.
Photoshop
3 and 4 March 2012
This course illustrates the potential of the Adobe Photoshop programme for the digital processing of photographic imagery, explaining the tools available for touching up photographs, balancing colour, cleaning up files and zone work.
The History of Photography

Filippo Trojano has been practicing photography since the age of 12, taking part at only 19 in his first collective exhibition, at the Maisons du Geste et de l'Image in Paris, in the context of the Mois de la Photo '96. He began to work with fine-art printer Andrea Calabresi in 1998 and started to take an interest in art photography. He became a professional photographer in 2000, studying under and working with artists of the calibre of Arno Minkkinen, Marco Delogu and Abelardo Morell. He has been lecturing in the theory, history and technique of photography since 2001. His love of the cinema led him to meet movie director Abbas Kiarostami and to play an acting role in the film Tickets (Olmi, Kiarostami, Loach, 2005). That experience also led him to publish his first book of photographs, entitled “Viaggio/Tickets, Carnet de Tournage”.
