Inspector Maigret investigates the death of a jeweller, uncovering a traffic in drugs and precious stones in the process. Written by Simenon with Renoir, this is the first Maigret film ever, almost an avant-garde movie filmed with complete freedom to produce what Godard called a "strange and poetic" work.
