The journey from France to Mecca offers a child and his ageing father a final chance to really get to know each other and to break down the barrier of incomprehension between two generations of Muslims that are totally different from, and at odds with, one another.  This unusual family road movie, an extremely rare document "from life", marks the very first occasion on which a director and and actors have been authorised to film the impressive sight of the crowds of teeming pilgrims in Mecca.
