A good Muslim behaves in such a way as to please God by complying with the tenets of the Qu'ran and with the Prophet Muhammad's example, "following what God has ordered" such as fasting in the holy month of Ramadan or offering legal alms. But being a good Muslim also means embracing the values of moderation and fairness, it means showing gratitude for benefits received, and it includes the ability to repent and to forgive, and to show kindness to children and to animals. The Qu'ran calls this loftier and subtler path "that which God loves".
