In this outstanding musical event, the 's exhibition halls will resound to the captivating rhythm of traditional Arab music revisited and brought up to date by Milagro Acustico Medina Sound, one of Italy's most interesting groups and the recipient of much praise for its exploration of traditional Mediterranean sounds. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for the public to admire the masterpieces of Islamic art to the accompaniment of the sounds of the Arab world and, in particular, of the Sicilian tradition on which that world had such a profound influence. The Milagro Acustico Median Sound's live music will take us on a journey around the Mediterranean, offering an enthralling interpretation of its traditions and a revisitation of the Arabs' impact on the lands that they conquered over the ages. The concert, entitled Arab Sicily, marks the culmination of research conducted over more than twenty years, using music to narrate Sicily's remotest and least known past around the turn of the first millennium. To play its music, the group uses such traditional Mediterranean instruments as the oud, the baglama, the friscaleddu, the ney and the daf, accompanied by the original verses of the Arab poets in the rendition of Iraqi-Tunisian singer and musician Marwan Samer. These outstanding verses of unparalleled delicacy were the Sicilian Arab poets' nostalgic tribute to their now distant land, revealing their nostalgia for their lost "paradise".
