USA 1927, directed by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, starring George O'Brien, Janet Gaynor, b/w, silent, 97', 35mm Italian intertitles
Enmeshed by a city girl, a young farmer leaves his family and ends up trying to drown his wife. But ultimately he comes to his senses and asks her to forgive him: they are back together and happy in the big city. But their coming back home is going to be more tragic than they ever expected. One of Murnau's - and silent Cinema's - greatest works, a milestone in photography and direction that, according to Truffaut, is "the best film in the world".
