West Germany 1978, directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, starring Volker Spengler, Ingrid Caven, color, 124', 35mm Italian dubbed version
The last days of transsexual Elvira in Frankfurt, as he recalls significant memories of his past to explain why he wants to take his own life. Shocked by the suicide of Armin Meier, Fassbinder's significant other, the director shot the film in just 25 days, also acting as director of photography and editor. It came out as one of his more extreme and pessimistic works, yet one of his most moving and unforgettable and offers an essential insight into Fassbinder's talent.
