Listening to the news from around the world these days can paralyse us, leaving us feeling powerless and overcome with concern for the future of our societies, our values and our planet. Palazzo Esposizioni Roma once again gets to grips with the major contemporary and human rights issues with a selection of urgent and riveting documentaries chosen by CineAgenzia for Internazionale weekly at leading festivals all around the world and presented in Rome after the journalism jamboree in Ferrara. This edition addresses the risk of alienation in the face of the global geopolitical catastrophes that seem to be giving us no respite, focusing once again on the rights and struggles that concern us most closely. It tells stories that serve as concrete examples, engaging with our private sphere and the reality surrounding us, and becoming tools for awareness and resistance. The selection focuses primarily on women’s rights, on digital rights in the face of big tech’s excesses and on freedom of education and thought in the midst of the current culture wars. Two films, #SainteJulie and Filthy, offer, in the first instance, a painful analysis of a case of femicide that was bound to happen, and, in the second, a brave autobiographical revisitation of a sexual assault endured and then repressed. Digital rights, AI and data are the themes of Techplomacy, a film about the first ambassador appointed to represent Danish citizens in their dealings with the big tech corporations, and The Sandbox, a visionary exploration of digital surveillance developed along the frontiers of the world for application in our own cities and in our daily lives. Emotional and digital education may forge new defences, a fact of which the world’s right-wing movements are well aware as they launch unprecedented attacks from universities on academic freedom, diversity and woke culture, as we are shown in First They Came For My College. And a final film supplies the crucial counterpoint without which every struggle and right would be vain: the retrospective once again addresses the plight of Palestine with Gaza's Twins, Come Back to Me, providing further evidence of the violence and injustice being suffered by a whole people.

Reservations may be made on the www.palazzoesposizioniroma.it website from 9.00 am on Monday 5 October until two hours before the performance is due to begin.
Even without a reservation, you may still access the cinema theatre while places last, but you must show up before the performance starts.
Once you have made your reservation, please show up at least 10 minutes before the performance begins; otherwise, your place will be given to a member of the public waiting in line at the entrance. If for any reason you are unable to attend, please remember to cancel the reservation in your private area on our website so that someone else can attend in your place.
