by Andrzej Wajda, PL, 1956 - 97'
During the Warsaw Uprising, a group of resistance fighters attempts to escape through the sewers in a desperate bid to reach an area still beyond German control. This claustrophobic descent into the underworld of a ravaged city and nation, rendered in stark black and white, transforms the sewers into a labyrinth of existential anguish.
