Hailed as the idol of Broadway, Don Wilson pretends to be a perfectly unknown actor in an effort to join a low-level theatre company run by the gorgeous Ginger. He tries hard, if fruitlessly, to bring the company up to scratch, but in the meantime the two fall in love. One of Capra’s youthful works, we can already detect his enormous talent in the rhythm of the narrative, in his work on the actors and in the fun that he invariably alternates with moments of great emotional intensity.
