To mark the exhibition Guggenheim Collection: The American Avant-Garde 1945-1980
the Palazzo delle Esposizioni presents American Lectures.
The Palazzo delle Esposizioni is happy to announce that, in keeping with a now well-established tradition, it will once again be hosting a series of encounters open to anyone wishing to explore in greater depth some of the themes addressed in the exhibition. This time it's the turn of the American Avant-Garde, recounted by Italy's leading experts and scholars who first analyzed the sensational and disruptive phenomena of American art, from Abstract Expressionism through Pop Art to Conceptual Art. Their unique insight will be matched by input from other personalities to offer the audience a new take on the story of this art and its leading players from a variety of different angles. The thread linking the issues addressed in the various encounters will consist of an ongoing comparison between visual culture in America and in Europe, a modern dialogue between the two continents.
