The world of particles is possessed of extraordinary properties; in fact, it even proved necessary to introduce a whole new scientific theory, quantum mechanics, simply to describe them.  The fact that this theory works unbelievably well has not prevented it from shaking up our intuition regarding elementary physical phenomena.  The scientific director of the Stars and Particles exhibition discusses the subject with us.
