A Palestinian family, uprooted from Gaza in the wake of the 7 October 2023 war and now sheltering in Egypt, copes with loss, mourning and nostalgia, while harbouring the dream of one day returning to their now devastated homeland. With touching testimonials and images of their exile and their life in Gaza both before and during the war, this film captures their experience for posterity.

Actress Dorra Zarrouk, who was born in Tunis, graduated in law from the Faculty of Jurisprudence and Political Science in Tunis in 2001 and obtained a Master of Advanced Studies degree in political science from Saint Joseph University in Beirut in 2003. She has appeared in over 20 films and 40 television series, as well as in several theatre performances, becoming one of Arab cinema’s best-loved stars, and has been a member of various international film festival juries. The Life That Remains marks her debut as director.
