Demonstrations, copies of the Quran burned, climate protests: in the eye of the storm, a group of Swedish police officers is tasked with defending everyone’s right to freedom of speech. A polarised society is their daily environment and defending democracy their daily task, with dialogue for their sole weapon.

Susanna Edwards works in both the feature film and the documentary fields. In 1996 she won Sweden’s Guldbagge award for Sunshadow, a documentary on female bull-fighter Cristina Sánchez, which has been distributed in 35 countries and won numerous international prizes. In 2000 she received a nomination at the Guldbagge for her film Respect!, which tracks four adolescent girls from the Stockholm suburb of Farsta. Her first narrative feature film, Keillers Park, released in 2006, is a love story without a happy ending. Dance My Heart Out, filmed in Cuba, won the Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation’s VIZE 97 prize, a prestigious award for human rights, in 2013. In 2017 she produced the documentary Golden Girl, on Swedish woman boxer Frida Wallberg, and completed Capturing the Divine, on Anglo-Egyptian female singer Natacha Atlas.
