Followed by an encounter with Tiziana Bastianini and the director
How does love survive the weight of the years and of routine, of personal crises and of collective catastrophes like the pandemic? That question is asked by a writer who uses a pseudonym to sign the letters in a women’s magazine agony aunt column, and by his partner who is in the grip of sentimental doubt. This bitter comedy explores the modern world through the relationship of a couple, shedding light on awkward truths and on genuine fragilities. A classic comedy of errors updated to the digital age, the film reflects on the lack of substance of our virtual means of communication that prompt us to publicise and to lay bare our innermost soul and our deepest desires. It is the trap of the social media and chats that falsifies our private lives, leading to a standardisation of emotions and sentiments in a regressive condition which loses its grip on life, which, in its precariousness, escapes all artificial control.
