(Harakiri, Germany 1919) directed by Fritz Lang, starring Lil Dagover, Paul Biensfeldt and Georg John, b/w, duration: 85’ (16fps), 35mm with Italian captions

Inspired by the story of Madame Butterfly, Lang’s fourth (and second surviving) film introduces the key themes of his oeuvre, for instance the relationship between guilt and punishment or the inevitability of fate. The version screened in 35mm film is the historic photochemical restoration performed by the Cineteca di Bologna.
