A newly-wed sherrif quits his job, but he pins his star badge back on again when he has to tackle four bandits with whom he has a score to settle, while the whole city turns it back on him.  This atypical Western, often seen in an anti-McCarthyist light and soon to become a legend of its kind, was the recipient of fully four Oscars.
