Back in the days of the Kennedy presidency and the civil rights movement, Corman directed his first movie "dictated by deep-seated social and political convictions", using the story of a racist fanatic who drags a whole city down into the pit of hatred to shock his audience with an uninterrupted flow of toughness and intensity.
