Trash - cinema review

14 march 2012

directed by Paul Morrissey
(Trash - I rifiuti di New York, 1970, 110 min. - original version with Italian subtitles)
A crucial figure in Andy Warhol's Factory, Morrissey ventured where no director had dared to go before, adopting a direct and dirty style in his depiction of the squalor of metropolitan marginalization -  a grotesque world people by drug addicts, transvestites and bumboys, over whom Joe Dalessandro shines in all his statuesque yet apathetic beauty.
