Well before the Sputnik was launched in 1957, Russian avant-garde artists had been depicting the visionary dream of the cosmos that was to become the driving force behind Soviet propaganda.  John Bowlt, Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures at USC, the University of Southern California, will be illustrating the astonishing ties between art and science both before and after the October Revolution.
