(12 Angry Men, USA 1957), directed by Sidney Lumet, starring Henry Fonda, Lee J. Cobb and Martin Balsam, black and white, 96 min., 35mm, original version with Italian subtitles
Twelve jury members are called on to decide the fate of an eighteen-year-old boy accused of murder. Eleven of them think he’s guilty, but one believes he’s innocent and so he tries his level best to persuade his fellow jurymen one by one. Lumet’s dazzling debut, an extraordinarily tense drama of lofty civic value, has become a cult movie for an increasingly broad audience over the years. Henry Fonda, who heads up an outstanding cast, was also the film’s producer.
Film introduced by Matteo Berardini
