directed by Ryszard Bugajski (Przesłuchanie, Poland 1982–9, 111 min. – original version with Italian subtitles)

Set in 1951, when Stalinism was probably at its most aggressive, the film tells the story of a cabaret singer forcefully abducted by two cadres for no apparent reason, thrown into a cell and interrogated for years in a military prison. During her time in prison she has an affair with an officer and gets pregnant... Filmed in 1982, the film only received its first public screening after the fall of the Berlin Wall (though the video tape enjoyed a huge clandestine circulation in VHS format in the '80s) when it was shown at the Cannes Film Festival and Krystyna Janda, the leading lady, won the award for Best Actress.
