My darling Clementine - cinema review

15 may 2012

(Usa 1946)
directed by John Ford, starring Henry Fonda, Linda Darnell, Victor Mature, Walter Brennan
b/w, 97', 35mm original English version with Italian subtitles
Wyatt Earp's and the O.K. Corral's tale is told by John Ford through one of the most intense and moving western films in the history of Cinema. The ornate, almost baroque style, the precise use of music, the beauty of the natural scenery and the elegiac mood are an almost unique achievement among Ford's body of work. "Stagecoach", Lindsay Anderson observed, "is very good prose, but My Darling Clementine is poetry".
