(USA 1941)
directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring Cary Grant, Joan Fontaine
b/w, 99', 35mm Italian dubbed version
Among audiences' favorite Hitchcock, Suspicion is a perfect essay in suspense and ambiguity, fully-fledged proof of François Truffaut's famous line: "all [Hitchcock's] love scenes were filmed like murder and all the murder scenes like love scenes". The "glass of milk" scene is unforgettable: to give audiences a hint that the milk might have been poisoned, Hitch had a light bulb hidden inside the glass. Joan Fontaine won an Academy Award for her leading role, one of the best of her career.
