Family Portraits
Sentimental, moral, economic and religious values in the family:  births, marriages, deaths, the organization of the home, dedication to work and politics, or the constant practice of the prescribed Catholic devotions.  Lorenzo Lotto's portraits can be interpreted as a figurative synthesis of daily experience, using symbols and signs to portray the ethos of the merchant classes in 16th century urban life.
