This is the masterpiece that won international recognition for Mexican cinema and for the talent of this great director, who portrays the tragedy of the Indios with instinctive and vigorous passion in the splendid features of Dolores del Río, already a Hollywood star at the time.  The movie won the director the Palme d'Or in Cannes.
